Section 4

Admission Merit Calculation

The admission merit shall be calculated according to the following criteria.

4.4. Entry after 15 years of Education

Merit Formula

[(Marks Obtained in SSC / Total × 10) + (Marks Obtained in HSSC / Total × 15) + (Marks/CGPA Obtained in BA/BSc/ADP / Total × 25) + (Marks/CGPA Obtained in B.Ed / Total × 50)]

4.5. Entry after 16 years of Education (B.Ed. Secondary (1.5 Years) / PGD (SLT) etc.)

4.5.1. Candidates having two years Bachelor Degree with two years Master Degree

[(Marks Obtained in SSC / Total × 10) + (Marks Obtained in HSSC / Total × 15) + (Marks/CGPA Obtained in BA/BSc/ADP / Total × 25) + (Marks/CGPA Obtained in MA/MSc / Total × 50)]

4.5.2. Candidates having four years Bachelor Degree

[(Marks Obtained in SSC / Total × 10) + (Marks Obtained in HSSC / Total × 15) + (Marks/CGPA Obtained in BS / Total × 75)]

Some programs may have additional admission criteria mentioned in the relevant scheme of studies.

Section 5

Grading Policy

  • 5.1. The grade point will be 0.00 for less than 50% marks, 2.00 for 50% marks and an increment of 0.05 will be added in 2.00 for each %age of marks up to maximum 4.00.
  • 5.2. Final evaluation of each course shall be in a whole number; if not, the result will be rounded off to the nearest whole number.
  • 5.3. Letter grades and corresponding grade points will be as follows:

B 70 to 79 3.00 to 3.45
C 60 to 69 2.50 to 2.95
D 50 to 59 2.00 to 2.45

5.4. Computation of Grade Point Average (GPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

5.4.1. Grade Point Average (GPA)/Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is a number ranging from 0.00 to 4.00 to be calculated as below:

Section 6

Probation

  • 6.1. A student, who fails to secure GPA 1.70 in 1st semester, will be dropped from the rolls. Such student will have to apply for admission as fresh candidate and restart his/her studies from 1st semester (if admitted).
  • 6.2. A student who secures GPA less than 2.00 but more than or equal to 1.70, in the 1st semester, will be promoted to the next semester on probation.
  • 6.3. A student who secures GPA more than or equal to 2.00, in 1st Semester, will be promoted to next semester.
  • 6.4. In all the following semesters, a student who secures CGPA less than 1.70 in any semester will be ceased automatically from University rolls and will have to reenrol the complete semester from where the student had ceased regardless of whether some courses have passed or not.
  • 6.5. In all the following semesters, a student who secures CGPA less than 2.00 but more than or equal to 1.70, in any semester will be promoted to the next semester on probation.
  • 6.6. A student who secures CGPA more than or equal to 2.00, in 2nd Semester and onwards, will be promoted to next semester.
  • 6.7. A student can have a maximum of one probation in up to two years degree programs.
  • 6.8. There will be maximum two academic probations in BS (4 Years) degree program. Both the probations cannot be granted/availed in first four semesters. A student who is on probation 2nd time in first four semesters, the student shall be ceased from rolls of university. However, the student can take re-admission only once during 4 years BS degree program.
  • 6.9. A student exceeding maximum number of probations will be ceased from University rolls.
  • 6.10. The student, who is ceased from rolls of University, will have to reenrol the complete semester from where the student has ceased regardless of whether some courses have passed or not.
Section 7

Degree Requirements

  • 7.1. For the award of degree, a student is required to fulfil all the requirements set for the degree in the approved scheme of studies. A minimum CGPA equal to 2.00 is required to qualify for the award of a degree.
Section 8

Thesis Submission / Evaluation

  • 8.1. The student will have to complete all the degree requirements including thesis within the maximum allowable duration.
  • 8.2. The topics of thesis and names of supervisors shall be approved in a formal meeting of the faculty of respective each subject chaired by the Director/Principal of the concerned Division/Campus/Affiliated College.
  • 8.3. A student shall submit three copies of the thesis/research project along with plagiarism report to his/her Supervisor, who will forward it to the concerned Director/Principal through concerned Head of Department/Coordinator for further processing.
  • 8.4. The thesis of BS (4 Years) degree programs will be submitted in hardbound in Black with Silver script whereas the thesis of BS (Post ADP)/MA/MSc degree programs will be submitted in hardbound in Royal Blue with Gold script.
  • 8.5. After a thesis is submitted, the Supervisor will request the concerned Director/ Principal (through Chairperson/Coordinator) to fix date for viva voce.
