Section 3

Cancellation of Admission

The University reserves the right to cancel or withdraw the admission of a student under the following circumstances.

3.1 False Information or Violation of Admission Regulations

  • The University reserves the right to cancel the admission of any student at any time who is found to have obtained admission through false statements, concealment of material facts, or violation of admission regulations.

3.2 Correction of Errors in Admission Records

  • The University reserves the right to correct any typographical or clerical mistakes in admission lists or related documents at any time without incurring any liability.
  • The concerned Director/Principal shall be authorized to take such action under intimation to the Registrar Office.

3.3 Grounds for Withdrawal or Cancellation of Admission

The admission of a student may be withdrawn or cancelled if:

  • The student is found involved in politics.
  • The student brings, carries, or keeps any type of weapon within the University premises.
  • The student organizes gatherings, meetings, or processions in any part of the University without authorization.
  • The student facilitates the entry of expelled students, anti-social elements, or other individuals whose presence on campus may create conflicts among students.
  • The student is involved in unfair means, examination malpractice, coercion, or any act causing injury or insult to the Head of Institution, teachers, officers, or other staff members.
  • The student damages University property, including buildings, equipment, vehicles, or any other institutional assets.
  • Admission may also be cancelled for any other valid reason determined by the Campus Discipline Committee.

Medium of Instructions

The University follows specific mediums for instruction and examinations according to the nature of each course.

6.1 Medium of Instruction and Examination

  • The medium of instruction and examination shall be English, except for courses in Islamic Studies and Urdu.
  • For Islamic Studies and Urdu courses, the medium of instruction and examination shall be Urdu.
  • For language courses such as Arabic and other languages, the medium of instruction and examination shall be the respective language of the course.

Schedule of Semesters

The academic year consists of regular and summer semesters according to the approved academic calendar.

7.1 Semester Structure

  • There will be two regular semesters in an academic year:
    • Fall Semester
    • Spring Semester
  • One summer semester may be offered only for outgoing students.
  • All semester activities shall be regulated according to the approved yearly academic calendar.

Credit Hour

The credit hour system defines the academic workload of courses based on theory and practical components.

8.1 Definition of Credit Hour

  • For the theory part of a course, one credit hour means one hour of teaching per week throughout a semester.
  • For the practical part of a course, one credit hour means three hours of laboratory work per week throughout a semester.

8.2 Credit Hour Representation

  • Each course in a scheme of study is represented by credit hours in the format x (a+b).
  • In this representation, a represents the total credit hours of the theory component.
  • b represents the total credit hours of the practical component.
  • x represents the total sum of theory and practical credit hours.

Course Load (Fall & Spring Semesters)

The regular semester course load is defined according to the requirements of each academic program.

9.1 Degree Programs

The following programs are included under the regular semester course load regulations:

  • Certificate Programs
  • Post Graduate Diploma Programs
  • Associate Degree Programs
  • B.Ed. Programs
  • BS (4 Years) Programs
  • BS (Post ADP) Programs
  • MA Programs
  • MSc Programs

9.1.1 Regular Semester Course Load

  • The above-mentioned programs generally include a course load of 15–18 credit hours in a regular Fall/Spring semester.
  • The course load may exceed this limit according to the approved scheme of studies or under special circumstances.

9.4 Deficiency Courses

  • The deficiency courses (mentioned as pre-requisite in the scheme of studies of the concerned programs) studied will not be credited towards the minimum credit hours requirements. The fee regarding deficiency courses will be charged as per prescribed rates.

Re-Admissions

Rules regarding re-admission, attendance requirements, course repetition, CGPA improvement, and assessment methods.

11. Re-Admission

11.1 Permission and Procedure for Re-Admission

  • For re-admission, the student will have to seek permission in writing from the concerned Director/Principal and pay all applicable fees and funds.
  • It will be the sole responsibility of the student to get himself/herself re-admitted.
  • No individual intimation will be sent by the University to the concerned student(s).
  • Students will be required to get re-admission within one month of the commencement of classes; however, the student will still be required to meet the attendance requirements.

11.2

  • A student who has ceased studies and re-enrolls but thereafter again fails to achieve the required CGPA will be dropped from the rolls of the University.
  • Such student will have to apply for admission as a fresh candidate and restart his/her studies from the 1st semester if admitted.

11.3

  • The maximum duration of the degree will remain the same and the elapsed period will be counted towards the permissible maximum duration of the degree.

Student Attendance

12. Student Attendance

12.1

  • The minimum attendance requirement to appear in the Summative Examination/University Examination (UExam) of a course will be 75% of the classes held in that course.

12.2

  • Any kind of leave (Emergency/Medical/etc.) requested by the student will be considered as absence from class.

12.3

  • A student having less than 75% attendance shall not be allowed to take the Summative Examination/UExam.
  • The Vice Chancellor may, on special grounds, condone up to 5% of the attendance.

Repeating Courses

13. Repeating Courses / Improvement of CGPA

13.1

  • If a student gets an "F" grade, he/she will be required to repeat the course or its recommended alternate in case of elective/optional courses.
  • The "F" grade obtained earlier will also be recorded on the transcript.

13.2

  • Students of Certificate, Post Graduate Diploma, Associate, B.Ed., BS (4 Years), BS (Post ADP), MA, MSc, MS, MPhil, and MBA Degree programs may be allowed to improve CGPA.
  • A maximum of five courses may be repeated in degree programs of more than two years duration.
  • A maximum of two courses may be repeated in degree programs of up to two years duration.
  • A student may repeat any course(s), but only once, in which he/she has obtained a "D" grade, provided there is no restriction under other regulations.

13.3

  • A PhD student may be allowed to repeat a maximum of two courses for CGPA improvement.
  • The student may repeat any course(s), but only once, in which he/she has obtained a "C" grade, provided there is no restriction under other regulations.

13.4

  • Both previous and new grades obtained will be recorded on the transcript; however, only the better grades shall be used in calculation of CGPA.

13.5

  • A student desiring to improve a grade will be required to seek written permission from the concerned Director/Principal through Chairperson/Coordinator before enrollment.

13.6

  • In case of CGPA improvement, it will be recorded with (Imp) on the transcript.

13.7

  • A prescribed fee will be charged for course improvement.

13.8

  • The course(s) may be improved within the permissible maximum duration of the degree.

Modes of Assessment

14. Modes of Assessment

14.1

  • In each semester, students may be required to appear in quizzes, tests, Mid Semester Examinations, Summative Examinations/UExam, presentations (individual/group), group discussions, and submit projects, assignments, lab reports, etc.
  • The course contents will not be considered substituted by presentations or assignments.

14.2

  • The mode of Mid Semester Examination and Summative Examination/UExam shall essentially be written except where otherwise defined and approved by the concerned Board of Studies.
